A Boy and His Dog: One True Story

Back in the 1970s, I was blessed with three wonderful sons.  The first came on a snowy December day, and my life has never been the same since. We named him Dave.

When Dave was two years old, my second son was born.  To keep my first son company while our family adjusted to its newest addition, we were blessed to have been given the BEST girl dog ever to walk this planet.  Her name was Lady, and she was six weeks old when a friend gave her to us.

Lady was an Australian Shepherd who looked like a Border Collie because of her coloring, but her personality was pure Aussie.  We loved her so.

Lady watched over my oldest son constantly.  She was his savior more than once.  They were inseparable by the time my third son arrived when Dave was four years old.

One fine day around that time Dave had learned about dinosaurs.  He was fascinated with them, so when he told me he and his trusty steed (Lady) were going hunting for baby dinosaurs for me to cook for supper, I simply assumed it was because of the books we had been reading, so I told him, "Good idea!"

My mistake.  He really was hunting baby dinosaurs.  Guess what he brought me??

Yep.  You guessed it.  A big ol' lizard.

Dave and Lady had many adventures over the years.  I'm sure he has stories he could tell you that he has never even told me.

Lady lived to be 14 years old. She was a joy every single one of those days.

If you are on the fence about allowing your children to have a dog, I vote for the dog.  They teach children about unconditional love and kindness.  They show them the important things in life like tummy rubs and never allowing a stranger too close to loved ones without warning them.

Dogs are the best of God's creation.  If a dog allows you to be its human, you are blessed.  Yes.  Blessed indeed.

Orbs and Such on an Autumn Night in Moncks Corner, SC

Today I am longing for Autumn, my favorite time of the year.  This has led me to remember a party at my brother, Tom's house and property back in the Autumn of 2013.

That particular party seemed to have uninvited guests in attendance.  Here are some photos I took that night.  What do you think?

No.  The fire was NOT burning high like that when I took this picture.

Strange orbs in this photo.

This one looks like damage to the film, which would explain it if I had been using film.  This was taken with an electronic camera.  No.  This crazy tunnel of light was not there when I took the photo.

What do you think?  Do you believe in ghosts?

Many Lives Many Masters

Many years ago, back in the 1970s, there was a little bookstore in a mall in Gaffney, South Carolina.  I loved that store and used to go there often when I was young.

I can still see that little store in my mind's eye.  The mall was not enclosed back then.  The stores inside it faced each other, but opened to the outdoors.  You walked to the center of the mall to get to that little store.  The store sold books and things like candles and incense and such.   It smelled really good in there.  I wish I could remember the name of it.  It was not a chain store.

I bought the brand new 1972 version of Linda Goodman's Sun Signs there when I was a teenager, which started me on a lifelong journey of questioning and exploring things that science can not explain.

Since that time I have read many books about Star Children, Empaths, Feng Shui, Psychics, Mediums, ESP, Astrology, Dream Interpretation, Witchcraft, Palmistry, Life After Death, and Reincarnation.  You know.  "New Age" stuff.  I love that stuff.  Fascinating.

The "New Age" book I've read and shared most often was written by Dr. Brian Weiss, a well respected psychiatrist who put his career on the line to write a book about a patient named Catherine.

Dr. Weiss is not your average "New Age" author.  He graduated from the Yale University School of Medicine in 1970, completed an internship in internal medicine at the New York University Medical Center and went back to Yale for a two-year residency in psychiatry. He was the Head of Psychiatry at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami when he met Catherine.

Catherine's cast study became the book, Many Lives Many Masters.  If you have never read it, RUN, do NOT walk, to your nearest library or book store and pick up a copy.  It will make you question everything you have been taught in this life.

Read it with an open mind.

You will be glad you did.

Happy 4th of July!

Happy 4th of July everyone!  I hope each of you has a wonderful holiday.

Today I am thinking about other holidays when my sons and granddaughters would visit for the 4th or those 4th of Julys when I would go to my brother's house for a cookout.  Those are the best holidays.  The holidays spent with family and friends.

I have no plans for today.  I hope to watch the parades on TV, but other than that, I just plan to be.  I might cook myself some good food.  Might not.  I'm in an "eh" kind of mood, you might say.

Last July took my dear brother, Howard, and my brother, Tom was very sick at that time.  We lost him last Christmas Eve.  I'm remembering my brothers today.  I miss them.

But I'm also remembering those happy recent 4ths spent with people I love, so I thought I'd share some photos from the happy  years with you.  Enjoy!
